Komorebi House
Dappled light
Komorebi is the Japanese word for the filtered light that falls through leaves — and it gives this house both its name and its point of departure. JEB Architecten designed Komorebi House as a detached home that does not shut out its surroundings, but embraces them. Large glazed surfaces, strategically placed openings and a careful solar orientation make nature part of every room. The structure is reduced to the essential: load-bearing elements that leave room for light, air and view. This design reflects JEB’s approach to detached houses on green plots in Noord-Holland — grounded in a clear idea, faithful to the place.
